Where: Tyrol, Austria
When: 5 December 2017
Held in the Austrian Alps, this festival celebrates the mythical creature – Krampus, a half goat, and half demon. The story goes such that Krampus is anti-St. Nicholas that whips naughty children with his chain. Bearing horns, long dark fur, and fangs, the sight of Krampus is nothing less than terrifying. Visitors of the Krampusnacht festival would dress up as Krampus himself carrying torches and would whip unsuspecting passersby. Although this parade originated from a children’s myth, it is not suitable for young children as the sights are pretty ghastly. So if you are a horror fanatic, Krampusnacht is the perfect festival for you. No tickets are required for this festival.
