Taking it slow
This curious sense of timelessness first struck as we rode from the resort’s ferry terminal to its Visitor Centre. At 310ha, Bintan Lagoon Resort is a goliath that would take a whole weekend to explore.
But we were in no rush; between enjoying live music over lunch and lighting lanterns after dusk, we took our time combing the island with various land activities.
We whisked across the sprawling golf ranges on buggies, traversing the hilly resort with ease to uncover some of the best views on the island.
For those seeking more adrenaline, the all-terrain vehicle ride brought us deep into the foliage of the resort.
Where some may be daunted by the undulating slopes here, I saw the opportunity to work my glutes with a scenic bicycle ride.
Accompanied by a guide, I wheeled through tree-lined groves and paths by the shore, until we came to what my guide called “the best spot in the resort” – a small hill at the edge of the Jack Nicklaus golf course that looked out over the sea.
We capped off the day with a well-deserved full-body massage, delivered in the comfort of our own rooms.
At just 575,000 Rupiah (about $59) for 90 minutes, the session was the pinnacle of relaxation.
