9. Denpoin Temple Garden, Tokyo

It’s hard to believe that the tourist hotspot Asakusa, Tokyo, can contain a little-known gem, but it’s true! The Denpoin Temple Garden owes its quiet tranquility mostly to the fact that it’s the private garden of the nearby Sensoji Temple’s abbot, and so it’s only open to the public a few short periods every year. Thankfully, it often opens from mid-March to early May, when visitors can marvel at the cherry trees in bloom during sakura season.
