Whichaway Camp takes glamping to a whole new level with luxe facilities.

Accessible via a five-hour private flight from Cape Town, South Africa, Camp Whichaway is a secluded camp situated deep within Antarctica, the seventh and least explored continent.

At Whichaway, you’re guaranteed an exclusive experience. Not only is the camp in one of the most remote parts of the world, the six state-of-the-art sleeping pods are designed for maximum privacy. Each pod accommodates two people and is constructed using cutting-edge technology that keeps the pod warm and quiet.

There is also a main living area, housed in three large domes, where you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, library and communication area to connect with home.

Every morning, your guide from White Desert, the tour operator that manages Whichaway Camp and other activities in Antarctica, will suggest a variety of excursions for you to choose from.

The activities can range from an educational trip to one of the local science bases to something more action packed like rock climbing, abseiling or even kite-skiing.

Alternatively, take in the majestic views of Antarctica by having a relaxing outdoor picnic or go on a slow trek to one of the nearby ice grottos — natural ice tunnels that wind through glaciers. There, you’ll see a kaleidoscope of colours as light bounces and refracts through the ice.

The trip will not be complete without a peek of the Emperor Penguins that call Antarctica their home. Watch as thousands of penguins waddle their way across the ice, diving deep into the ocean to catch their lunch.

With the rise in popularity of glamping (glamourous camping), Whichaway Camp takes it one step higher.

Even though you might be miles away from civilisation, a camping experience at Whichaway is still full of modern comforts. The camp offers first-rate dining options and even has a glass of champagne waiting for you once you return back to camp.

The next time you’re planning a trip to South Africa, why not make a detour to the deep south in Antarctica too? Flights depart at 22:00 from Cape Town International and the overnight flight will take you across the Southern Ocean into the Antarctic Circle which has 24 hours of continuous sunshine and joy.
