Rare sightings: Vaporeon, Snorlax and real-life Pikachu mascots

Many a Singaporean’s top choice for a short holiday, Bangkok is quick to catch on to the Pokemon trend, with many groups and businesses organising events for fans to beef up their Pokedex.

On 3 Sep, Lumphini Park will be the site of Bangkok’s first and biggest Pokemon Go outing, where fans are encouraged to gather in Pokemon-themed outfits. According to the Facebook event page, some 3,000 people will be attending; several Bangkok-based players have even reported catching rare Pokemon like Vaporeon at the park.

If you won’t be there in time for this meet-up, fret not. The event organiser, Bangkok Pokemon Go, has indicated interest in organising such events on a monthly basis. Locals have also recommended another hotspot: W District in Phra Khanong, which boasts four Pokestops in one area stocked with drink and food stalls to fill up on.

Non-playing Pokemon fans can have their fun too. The famous Pikachu parade event, Pokemon Together, will be roving throughout the country for the rest of the year. You can catch it at places like Robinson Lifestyle Center Kanchanaburi (16-18 Sep), Chiang Mai’s Central World (23-25 Sep) and Robinson Lifestyle Centre Sakon Nakhon (14-16 Oct).

The full schedule can be found on Pokemon Together’s Facebook page.
