Royal Caribbean Oasis Of The Sea: An Unforgettable European Adventure Aboard A Floating City Of Fun

Trust me when I say I was on cloud nine after receiving an invitation to cruise on the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas!

This is simply because I’ve always dreamed about exploring Europe, but life always seemed to get in the way. For someone who is always hustling and prefers to avoid the hassle of planning itineraries, cruising is possibly the best mode of travel. With this, I did not think much and took the plunge into this Oasis of the Seas by Royal Caribbean with my best friend.

Royal Caribbean’s itinerary starts in Italy, which then takes us to Spain and France before returning to Italy. The cruise visits both popular cities and hidden gems, making it perfect for first-time visitors and seasoned travellers alike! This is perfect for us since my best friend has toured Europe before unlike me.

Cities I love on my first visit to Europe

Italy – Positano

The moment we stepped foot in Positano, we were captivated by its sheer beauty. Nestled on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, the town’s vibrant houses cascaded down the hillside, shimmering in the sunlight. I spent my days wandering through the narrow, winding streets, exploring the charming shops filled with colourful ceramics, fine leather goods, and iconic Positano-style clothing.

One of our most vivid memories of Positano is the incredible seafood we enjoyed at a small restaurant by the beach. The fresh grilled fish and pasta, paired with a local Amalfi white wine, was the perfect way to unwind after exploring. We wish we could have stayed longer to savour more delicious local cuisine.

The town’s signature citrus fruit, lemons, were everywhere. From Limoncello to soaps, the refreshing scent of lemons filled the air. It was a delightful reminder of the simple pleasures of life which still lingers for me.

Positano was a true paradise for me. The stunning scenery, delicious food, and charming atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return and explore more of this beautiful coastal town.

Spain – Barcelona

The first stop on our Barcelona adventure was the iconic Sagrada Familia. Gaudí’s masterpiece, though still under construction, is a marvel of architecture and engineering. Its intricate façade and stained-glass windows create a truly magical atmosphere. We spent hours exploring the basilica, marvelling at the sculptures, mosaics, and intricate carvings. Every corner revealed a new detail, a new wonder. It was as if we had stepped into a living, breathing work of art.

Just a short walk from the Sagrada Familia lies a true football fan’s paradise: the FC Barcelona Museum. This interactive museum is a treasure trove for anyone who loves the sport. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a stunning display of trophies and medals, a testament to the club’s incredible success. You can explore the history of the team through interactive exhibits, relive classic matches, and even get up close to the jerseys of legendary players. Even my seasoned traveller friend, who isn’t a huge football fan, was captivated by the museum’s charm. She was impressed by the innovative exhibits and the passionate atmosphere. It’s a must-visit for any fan of the sport or anyone interested in learning more about the history of FC Barcelona.

Cities that my friend who have already visited Europe multiple times like:

Italy – Pompeii

Stepping back in time to 79 AD, we found ourselves transported to Pompeii, a city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. As we wandered through the ancient streets, the marks of chariot wheels were still visible in the stone, a testament to the bustling life that once filled these streets.

Exploring the city felt like stepping into a time capsule, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the Romans. We imagined children playing in the courtyards, merchants haggling in the marketplace, and families gathering for meals in their homes.

From the grand theatre to the bustling marketplace, Pompeii’s grandeur and sophistication were truly impressive. The intricate details of the frescoes, mosaics, and architecture revealed the wealth and refinement of Roman society.

One of the most poignant moments for us was standing in the ruins of a home and imagining the family that once lived there. I could picture their laughter, their worries, and their hope for the future. It was a powerful reminder of the human connection to these ancient stones.

Pompeii is more than just a historical site; it’s a window into the past that allows us to connect with those who lived there. It’s a place where history comes alive and the stories of the past continue to resonate with us today.

France – Provence

Provence, with its iconic lavender fields, is a region rich in experiences beyond the picturesque landscapes. During this visit, we delved into the world of fine olive oil production and indulged in the renowned French wines of LA CAVALE winery.

The charming village of Lourmarin captivated me with its historic Château de Lourmarin and vibrant art scene. We spent hours wandering through the narrow streets, exploring the local shops and galleries, and soaking up the unique atmosphere.

The culinary delights of Provence were equally impressive. We savoured the flavours of traditional dishes like ratatouille and Magret de Canard, expertly paired with a glass of Provençal wine. Each bite was a symphony of flavours, showcasing the region’s culinary heritage.

Our journey through Provence was an immersive experience that allowed me to connect with the local culture, history, and traditions. From the rolling hills of lavender to the charming villages and delicious cuisine, Provence exceeded my expectations in every way.
