3. Temppeliaukio Church, Helsinki 

Also known as the ‘Church of the Rock’, this unique, almost extraterrestrial-like church’s walls are chiselled out entirely from a massive block of natural granite, with a round dome-shaped ceiling made of copper plates. The majestic building is the brainchild of a pair of brothers, Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen—whose design won an architecture contest in 1961, and the entire church was finally completed in 1969.
