4. Embark on a river safari tour

Imagine drifting peacefully down a stream and being greeted by a majestic elephant up close on the river bank. The Kinabatangan River, the longest one in Sabah, is a must-visit place for nature lovers.

Here, sail lazily through the Lower Kinabatangan basin, a renowned wildlife sanctuary where exotic species such as Proboscis monkeys, Sumatran rhinos and Asian elephants can be found. The site offers a river cruise as well as a night safari ride, in which you can catch nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat after the sun goes down.
