This picturesque route through the heart of Madagascar is known to be rather manageable for cycling and wildlife enthusiasts.
Beginning in the capital city of Antananarivo, this path is mostly gravelled and breezes through Ranomafana National Park and Andringitra Massif, awarding cyclists with views of rare tropical birds and lemurs — an endemic species.
The trail snakes through highlands and secluded rural tracks, and ends in the quiet coastal town of Mahavelona. There are several tour agencies offering specialised biking tours along this route, and include programmes on the Creole language, songs, customs and food.
