5. Collingwood, Melbourne

If your idea of a good day consists of dining in a converted train carriage hanging off the edge of a rooftop, then Collingwood’s for you. The hub that knows how to raise a hubbub, Collingwood is the proud home of kooky dining concepts like the seemingly precarious Easey’s burger joint, which has been known to roll out unique dishes like deep-fried poptarts.

For more semblance of normal dining, hit up Smith Street, where many of the suburb’s best restaurants and bars are lined up. There’s even a cafe for canines (DogHouse). The town also offers a Japanese public bathhouse (Ofuroya), just in case you needed a soak.
