4. Fitzroy, Melbourne

Never mind in Australia alone – Fitzroy ranks third on The Telegraph’s list of 25 most hipster neighbourhoods in the world. Melbourne’s oldest suburb that dates back to 1839, Fitzroy is a buzzing arts grid that draws in creatives and hopefuls with its electrifying street art, cold-drip coffee, gin mixes, vegan bowls and art galleries.

Brunswick Street is undoubtedly the life of the party, where all manners of vintage stores, second-hand bookstores, cafes and restaurants can be found. But for the complete Fitzroy experience, take the arvo to explore the alleys and laneways to discover Melbourne’s alternative scene in full force.
