Alas, it seems like half of Asia had the same idea as you did, and peace and privacy seem like a distant dream on this crowded shore.

5. Panglao Island, the Philippines
If complete seclusion and silence worries your urban soul, Panglao Island in Bohol, the Philippines, would make your ideal vacation spot.
The large island in the Visayas island group – east of renowned Cebu – may be one of the country’s popular beach destinations, but it is still relatively uncrowded and its spoils still pristine.
Of nine major beaches, Alona Beach is the gem of the island, loved for its teeming coral reefs, endless beaches and clear waters.
While sun worshippers may be content lounging on the sand, nature lovers may also take to the land and discover some of the island’s interesting formations, such as the Chocolate Hills and the Hinagdanan Cave – the island’s underground water source.
High season is November to April. The island is served by ferry to and from Cebu and Tagbilaran.
