3. Koh Kradan, Thailand

Imagine Phuket’s powdery beaches, but without the masses of merrymakers. That’s the treat that awaits on Koh Kradan, one of the remaining remote islands located in Trang, Thailand.

90 per cent of the island falls under the protected marine national park of Hat Jao Mai, making it a favourite destination among diving enthusiasts.

The west coast, where you can catch the stunning sunset, is accessible via a short walk through the forest. The north coast is often deserted.

There are resorts available on Koh Kradan, and you can even pitch a tent and camp overnight here, but do note that there is no automatic teller machine (ATM) or medical supply here.

Koh Kradan is accessible by ferry from Trang’s Kuan Thunggu Pier or Pak Meng Pier, and boat from Phuket or Langkawi.
