9. For the History Buffs: Bagan, Myanmar

Learning doesn’t end when you graduate as the world is like a classroom! Start your global intellectual journey at Bagan, one of the largest and richest archaeological sites in Asia. Once the golden capital of the Pagan Empire, Bagan is home to over 2,000 Buddhist monuments today. With so many beautiful temples, pagodas and stupas, you might be spoilt for choice, but some iconic ones not to be missed are the revered Ananda Pagoda, the reddish-brick Dhammayangyi Temple, and the Gawdawpalin Temple, which sits at the banks of the gorgeous Irrawaddy River. You can also explore them by bicycle or even a horse and cart guided tour!

Where to stay: The Crown Prince Hotel, conveniently located near the Nyuang U airport and many of the main attractions, offers comfortable modern rooms at great value.
