4. For the Adventurous:Climb Mount Fuji

Cross an item off your bucket list by climbing the famous Mount Fuji! It may be the highest mountain of Japan, but it is relatively easy and suitable for beginners, especially during the official climbing season in July and August. Of the four trails you can choose, the Yoshida trail is one of the easiest and features many mountain huts on the ascent. You can even stay in one of the huts overnight! For a quieter climb, the Shubashiri trail has a gentle slope and a smaller crowd. What’s more, climbing Mount Fuji can be very affordable! Willer Express offers a two-day bus tour package from Tokyo at 27,800 yen (S$343), and they often have sales on their website. The gear required is also simple, without heavy equipment, and Willer Express rents mountaineering gear at 9000 yen (S$111). The view of the sunrise at the summit is priceless.
