As one of our favourite independent book store and purveyor of local books and other carefully curated literary works from around the world, BooksActually has gotten this idea down pat.
Simply pick from 3, 6, and 12 month memberships — prices start from $129 for a 3-month subscription.
Here’s how it works
First, you pick a ‘BooksActually Elf’ (one of the staff) based on their recommendations and reading profiles to be the curator of your subscription box.
For instance, owner Kenny Leck’s reading list includes a curious mix of classics like Mary Poppins by P L Travers and Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson alongside chilling non-fiction work like Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer.
After which, simply pick from 3, 6, and 12 month memberships — prices start from $129 for a 3-month subscription.
Most exciting of all, every box comes with a little gift that will supposedly complement your reading experience. Could it be a bookmark, some tea, or even a scent?
