The humidity is a bane when you’ve got an oily scalp.
Salon blow-outs go limp in no time and sebum build-up results in clogged pores and thinning hair.
In my pursuit to revive my crowning glory, I tried Beijing 101‘s Deep Puri-Scalp Treatment.
According to a Nielsen survey, 90%* of Beijing 101’s customers have seen effective hair growth after undergoing their treatments.
To test the theory, we decided to take up the challenge — oily scalp and all.
A lack of sleep had also caused my scalp to suffer from unbalanced oil secretion, resulting in excessive sebum.
Hair analysis
My session kicked off with a private consultation with a Beijing101 hair care expert, where she quizzed me on my lifestyle habits — which admittedly, weren’t the most healthy.
After all, toxins had built up in my scalp due to hair dyeing and also, pollution.
A lack of sleep had also caused my scalp to suffer from unbalanced oil secretion, resulting in excessive sebum.
The verdict became visible when she performed a scan on my scalp, showing the clogged pores on it. It wasn’t a pretty sight for sure.
To curb my problem of thinning hair, we’d have to target the scalp first, with one of their herbal scalp masks.
The therapist started by applying the herbal mask onto my scalp, working her way from crown to nape.
I was lulled into a gentle nap as the therapist gave my scalp a deep massage and wash.
Relaxing scalp masks
Apart from leaving my scalp with a cooling sensation, the army-green coloured mask offers powerful benefits, which include penetrating deep into the scalp pores follicles to remove accumulated sebum, balancing oil secretion in the scalp and providing nutrition to hair follicles.
20 minutes later, I was lulled into a gentle nap as the therapist gave my scalp a deep massage and wash.
For the final step, my hair was towel-dried and pampered with the Tonic Q Scalp Care Lotion before being blown dry.
Immediately after, my hair felt light and airy — no longer weighed down by impurities.
Looks like maintaining scalp cleanliness ought to be a key step in my hair care routine, apart from splurging on styling sessions!
