Fashion Steps Out 2014 opens in style with 150 models strutting down Orchard Road
Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard Road returned in grand style to Singapore’s premier shopping street. Held annually, the grand fashion festival kicked off last Saturday on the signature runway, as models traipsed down the traffic-free roads.
“This longest runway show is a clarion call reminding all that fashion isn’t just meant for those with a penchant for the esoteric,” said May Sng, Chairman of Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA).
“It is for anyone and everyone, and the sheer array of merchandise on catwalk is actually available for sale in our Orchard Road stores,” she said.
Showstopping Parade
About 150 models strutted down Orchard Road, showcasing international brands such as Aimer and Ashley Isham as well as home-grown talents The Reckless Shop and Depression. Guests at the gala were also invited to a post-event party at Topshop Topman at Knightsbridge.
Fashion Steps Out will go on until May 18, with various happenings and great deals. Visit the Fashion Tower at Paterson Road/Scotts Junction to see the highlights of this year’s Spring Summer palette.
This six-week fashion fiesta will also feature fresh events such as Fashion Reimagined and Local Labels Exhibit @ Orchard Central in support of the up and coming local designers and using the platform to showcase their talents.
Local Designers Shine
Fashion Reimagined will feature promising designers from the Raffles Design Institute (RDI) who will be converting shopping bags from Paragon Shopping Centre and festival participating retailers on Orchard Road, such as Adolfo Dominguez and Karen Millen, into wearable and fashionable apparel.
In an effort to enliven Singapore’s local fashion scene, Orchard Central will be showcasing the creations of four local designers with five iconic pieces from their Spring-Summer Collection. There are 20 designs featured from brands which include The Reckless Shop, SABRINAGOH, MATCHBOX and Sans & Sans.
