The treatment utilises scalpels, lancets, and drills to restore soft skin and remove cuticles. The toenails are buffed with a leather nail buffer and a special paste until the nail gleams. Spa Botanica in the Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa has been given new life as So Spa by Sofitel. Its updated menu of spa treatments includes the Sentosa Massage ($180-$240 for 60 or 90 minutes), which is based on the four main cultures of Singapore where East meets West to help expel fatigue and rid the body of daily stresses. It also removes tension with effleurage strokes and meridian acupressure to drain toxins. A Kansu bowl is also used to stimulate the foot’s reflex points to eliminate ‘body heat’.

The Tropical Java Julur ($150) treatment may be aimed at “brides-to-be”, but who says you can’t enjoy it if you aren’t getting married? The treatment begins with a full body exfoliation of turmeric and rice powder, and a yoghurt wrap is used after to brighten the skin. Then, a blend of therapeutic oils is used for the Aramsa Touch massage – a mixture of lymphatic drainage and meridian techniques. Lastly, you’ll enjoy a warm outdoor flower bath.
