Sometimes, all the ingredients you need for beauty is sitting in your kitchen. Here are a few easy home remedies to keep you as fresh, all day.
But as with all beauty remedies, be sure to do a patch test first to ensure that you’re not allergic to any ingredient.
Used Tea Bags
Ever woken up to puffy eyes on the day of an important meeting? Don’t fret! Head to the kitchen, steep tea bags into two cups of tea, and remove the tea bags.
When they cool, place them on your eyelids between pieces of tissue. The caffeine in the tea bags will help to constrict blood vessels and soothe puffy eyes. Chamomile tea bags are the best for de-puffing.
Egg Whites
If you’ve run out of face masks and need a pick-me-up for a dinner date, crack open an egg from the fridge and use the egg whites for a quick, tightening face mask. The protein from the egg white tightens the skin and diminishes fine lines in a jiffy.
Beer
Smelling like a barfly may not be the most attractive thing on earth but beer is actually excellent for your hair due to the proteins and wheat in it. Use the beer after your normal shampoo and massage it through your hair.
You can mask the smell of beer with conditioner after or skip it all together if you want.
Sugar
Brown sugar would be best for this one. Simply mix coarse brown sugar with honey and an emollient such as olive or coconut oil, for a body scrub.
If you prefer a finer scrub, use caster sugar instead. Store the mixture in an airtight jar and use in the shower on dry areas.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is excellent for blackheads. Pulverise the oatmeal with almonds in a blender. Add a few drops of water to a small amount and massage the paste gently into the skin and, voila! Your skin is instantly brighter.
If you have a nut allergy, please avoid this particular home remedy.
