7 Furniture Stores Besides IKEA To Shop All Your Homeware Needs

Spruce up your home with eco-friendly furniture at great value

We love IKEA for its variety of minimalist and easy-to-assemble furniture. But if your home is starting to look like it could be a page from the IKEA catalogue, maybe it’s time to mix up your BILLY bookcases and LACK tables with pieces from other retailers.

Lucky for us, there are many home décor stores to choose from in Singapore, and recently, more have been popping up. These six local and international brands continue to set high standards for lifestyle and household products, offering not only quality at affordable prices, but also additional features like online shopping convenience and eco-friendly materials.

7. Commune

It all began when two Singaporean brothers and their cousin decided to start their own business in 2011, branching out of their family’s furniture-manufacturing company Koda. Since then, Commune has built a name for itself not just in Singapore, but also regionally, with more than 45 outlets across China, four in Malaysia, and one in both the Philippines and Australia. What sets Commune apart from most furniture brands is their strong involvement in every part of the production process, from the in-house design team to the eventual manufacturing, which also allows Commune to offer their products at affordable prices.

Their original designs feature a variety of gorgeous hardwood and styles, from mid-century modern to retro vintage. Guiding all these designs is Commune’s dedication to family. Running a family business themselves, the founders strive to make functional furnishings around which families can interact and make memories. Commune uses only lacquers and coatings with low lead content, to ensure that their products are both family-friendly. They are environmentally-friendly too: Commune uses recycled materials and sources wood ethically from sustainable forests in the US and Asia.

You can view the catalogue and shop online, or visit one of their physical stores in Singapore, which include the flagship store at 9 Raffles Boulevard #02-52, Singapore 039596.
