Spend more time with your mom by doing a fun activity – Zumba is a popular and lively form of dance and exercise
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere.
Essentially, everyone dances to the infectious music and the exotic rhythms to keep fit and have a great time. Zumba is one of the most energetic and fun workouts you can find.
As you get caught up in the fun doing the moves, you’ll barely notice how hard you’ve worked out!
Zumba vs Other Dances
While many dance moves in Zumba are pre-choreographed, instructors often incorporate their own style or steps, or even create an entirely new routine to their favourite songs. Some of the common moves include salsa, V-steps with exaggerated hips, cha-cha-chas and side touches.
Zumba is also unique as the instructors don’t say much. Instead, visual cues are used, like a loud clap, to signify a change in movement.
Unlike other dances, there is no pressure to get the steps right! A good portion of Zumba involves having a good laugh.
Join the Zumba Party with Mom
Zumba is truly for anyone who is willing to stand up and dance, and sweat it out. It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old, or if you have a flair for dancing.
Join with your mom and the cheerful and welcoming Zumba community is bound to take away any grumpiness she might have from being cooped at home for too long.
The Essentials
All you need is to throw on a T-shirt and sweatpants. Anything comfortable and conducive to movement will do. Also, a pair of fitness shoes with good support and range of movement is essential.
Apart from these, bring a towel and a water bottle because you will be perspiring a lot. You can bring a heart-rate monitor if you want to keep track of how active you are.
