Director Paul Feig makes a bold move from comedies (such as Bridesmaids, Spy, and the Ghostbusters reboot) to a dark thriller for the fans of Gone Girl. Adapted from a novel of the same name, A Simple Favour zooms in on the relationship between two women, Emily (Blake Lively) and Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), who meet when their kids attend the same elementary school. They become best friends and share their most intimate secrets with each other, but the friendship is often one-sided as Stephanie grows obsessed with Emily’s glamorous life. One day, Emily calls Stephanie to ask her for a simple favour, and then disappears. Working with Emily’s husband, Sean (Henry Golding), Stephanie searches for Emily, and they both start to doubt everything they knew about her.
