The official 28th SEA Games Merchandise Store opened its doors to the public last weekend on Nov 1, with a range of SEA Games 2015 merchandise designed by local designers Cheong Kah Meng and Brenna Soong. The store also carries apparel designed by local designer Benny Ong.

The launch took place at 2.30pm in front of Wisma Atria Shopping Centre in Orchard Road, where the store is located. A wide range of merchandise is available, including the national jersey, T-shirts, mugs, pins and mascot toys.

Part of the proceeds of the sale of official merchandise will go towards supporting social causes. $10 from the sale of acrylic paintings hand painted by MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) trainees and $1 from the sale of tote bags put together by MINDS trainees will go directly to MINDS. $1 from the sale of three specially-themed gel bracelets, one each for MINDS, SAVH (Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped) and SCORE (Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises), will go directly to the respective causes.

Five per cent of total proceeds will also be donated to social causes such as SportCares Foundation, which uses sport as a channel to help the vulnerable segment of the community to live better lives, and SPMF, which helps to provide pocket money to children from lower-income families.

The SEA Games will return to Singapore in 2015, after 22 years, with the Singapore Sports Hub as the main venue.
