Oscars 2019: Our Favourite Moments From The Awards Show

Historic wins, Gaga slaying "Shallow" again, Chris Evans being a gentleman, and more

You're not alone if you thought the 2019 Academy Awards was going to be a hot mess after learning that there wouldn't be a host. A few bizarre things did happen during the film awards show, but the decision to break from tradition turned out to be more refreshing than awkward. On a night when Green Book winning the highly-coveted Best Picture award was met with an underwhelming response, there were also lots of milestones for diversity, inspiring speeches and hilarious parodies that made this year's Oscars still one to celebrate.

6. Melissa McCarthy and Brian Tyree Henry presenting Costume Design. Literally.

The costume fun also extended to the stage! Possibly the funniest parody of the night, Melissa McCarthy and Brian Tyree Henry made us roar with laughter when they presented the award for Costume Design. The nominees montage isn’t really necessary, because the two actors somewhat gave us a live look! McCarthy donned an elaborate queen’s gown complete with a neck ruffle and a bunny puppet in the style of The Favourite, while Henry sported Black Panther-inspired face paint and a blue silk cape and red gloves combo that echoes Mary Poppins Returns.
