Homeboy Hartono has gone and done it again.
After proving that you don’t have to win a reality singing competition (“Sing! China”) to sweep people off their feet, Singaporean singer-songwriter Nathan Hartono has landed his first movie role – and it seems like quite the film to get excited about.
He will star in Singapore’s first car racing-themed movie, tentatively titled Warrior of Love. The joint production between Singapore and Taiwan is a comedic portrayal of a young and gullible ‘Cinderella’ who falls in love with the Prince of Speed. It is slated for release in early 2018.
On taking on the project, Hartono enthuses, “I am excited to start! I do feel the pressure but it is the good kind of pressure; the kind that drives me to improve and do greater things. I cannot wait to take on the challenges this film will bring.”
His lucky co-star has yet to be announced, but we know that Malaysia’s Number 1 Drifter, Tengku Djan Ley, and Asia’s top female racer, Leona Chin (pictured above), will be showing off their skills in the film.
The movie will be helmed by Singapore director Derrick Lui, whose indie film 1400 had its world premiere at the prestigious Festival des Films du Monde in 2015 and won the Best Feature Film Awards in both the flEXiff 2015 in Sydney, Australia, and 2016 Maverick Movie Awards in USA.
Warrior of Love is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2018.
