1. Transformers: Age of Extinction

Be prepared to be blown away by the fourth installment of Transformers, led by Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Tessa (Nicola Peltz), Shane (Jack Renor). This time, Bumblebee features a new design, sporting horns instead of antennae. Some of the scenes were even filmed in Asia! Given a 98% thumbs up rating on RottenTomatoes.com, be sure to catch this action packed sequel in theatres this June.
2. The Fault in our Stars

Fans of John Green’s bestselling Young Adult novel The Fault in our Stars, rejoice! Hazel, Gus and Isaac, Peter van Houten are here to bring the novel back to life and stir the emotional side in you. Starring Shailene Woodley (Hazel), Ansel Elgort (Gus) who played siblings in the Divergent movie, the movie will take us on a journey of two cancer-stricken lovers. With their amazing story of love and friendship, pain and loss, the movie looks as promising as the book. Be prepared with lots of tissues!
3. How to Train your Dragon 2

Here’s one for the family to enjoy. Join Hiccup and Toothless on a brand new adventure in How to Train your Dragon 2. Starting from where the last movie left off, the sequel welcomes new characters such as the mysterious Dragon Rider and also Hiccup’s long-lost mother, Valka. The movie takes place in a new environment, as Hiccup and Toothless visit an ice cave. Many have also expressed enthusiasm over the sequel, mainly because of the impressive animations of the characters. Produced by Bonnie Arnold who has notable works such as the Toy Story series under her belt.
4. Edge of Tomorrow

Starring heartthrob Tom Cruise who is the much heralded Blockbuster King and award-winning actress Emily Blunt, the duo must fight hand-in-hand against an alien invasion to save the earth. Directed by Doug Liman, be assured that the movie will be as action packed and as ground-breaking as all his other movies such as the award-winning 2002 thriller, The Bourne Identity. This movie is much anticipated by many movie-goers, and film critic Jake Coyle says, “Among countless sequels and remakes, the high-concept Edge of Tomorrow is the right kind of a rerun.” and Cath Clarke describes it as “pretty genius”. Genius or not, you be the judge.
5. 22 Jump Street

Remember the hilarious duo from 21 Jump Street in 2012? In 22 Jump Street, cast Jonah Hill (Schmidt), Channing Tatum (Jenko), and director Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back to tickle your funny bone! Expectations run high for this sequel as the former was a comedic success. Packed with much more humorous antics, you’re sure to have a roaring good time.
6. Space Pirate Captain Harlock

If you are a fan of Japanese Manga, you will undoubtedly enjoy Rintaro’s 3D animated film, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, illustrated and written by Leiji Matsumoto. He is well-known for writing many mangas such as the Senjo Manga Series, which gained him the coveted award Shogakukan Manga Award in 1978. With breathtaking visuals in the movie and described as “animation bliss” by film reviewers online, be sure not to miss it!

1. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra will be performing for two days at the Star Performing Arts Centre on June 6 and 7. Audiences will be able to relieve the awesome experience of immersing themselves in the full length Academy Award-winning motion picture projected on a giant cinematic screen complete with dialogue and sound effects. If you enjoyed their performance of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring last year, be sure to catch them this year.
2. The Lion Men: The Ultimate Showdown
Directed by Jack Neo, the theme of the movie is in line with most of his films with heartland humour and physical comedy. Starring the cast from Ah Boys to Men, this film promises to entertain with a mash up of hip hop dancing and lion dance. Throw in a Romeo and Juliet storyline, a bumbling kidnapping and the warring of two lion dance clans, it promises to be an Ultimate Showdown.
