Fighting through the apocalypse can work up an appetite, and for American actor Josh McDermitt, that hunger is easily sated by siew mai.
"What are these?" Remarked the "Walking Dead" star as he chowed down the yellow meat dumplings. "Popping these like delicious chicken-filled candy."
He's warm, chatty and cavalier - especially considering the heavy mid-season cliffhanger that Season 7 left us with. After surrendering himself, McDermitt's Eugene Porter has been whisked off by the tyrannical villain Negan to someplace we're guessing isn't Wonderland.
We grill the man with the mullet on his life on set - and why it gave the big softie nightmares.

Eugene isn’t very combat-inclined. What about you?
I want to get into martial arts, maybe some taekwondo or karate. The problem is time. When I start doing something that I like, that’s all I wanna do. I like to hike, so I get addicted to hiking and I don’t do anything else but hike.
So with martial arts, I know I will love it, it’s just making sure I have enough time to be able to go all in with it. I wanna be a blackbelt.
That would really prepare you for the apocalypse.
I mean, could you see me kickboxing my way through the apocalypse? That’d be awesome. Hiking would definitely come in handy too.
In terms of other survival skills; I know how to shoot a gun. I have a bow and do archery. I can build a fire. But I don’t know if I should be your first line of defence. I’m gonna find Norman Reedus and get behind him. [Laughs]
What would your weapon of choice be?
Something blunt and heavy. I’ve always liked Tyrese’s hammer with the claw. Michonne’s sword is great too.
Or maybe a sniper rifle, something that’s gonna remove me from the action. Maybe that’s the best. I’m changing my answer: Sniper rifle!
