tvN Asia’s 2018 brand-new original production Get It Beauty On The Road (走出韩妆教室) has recently concluded shooting in Singapore. Hosted by K-pop fashion and beauty icon Sandara Park, the show also stars up-and-coming local actresses and online influencers Chantalle Ng and Tay Ying.
Adapted from the format of popular Korean beauty programme Get It Beauty (韩妆教室) that explores Korean beauty products, Get It Beauty On The Road stars ex-2NE1 member Sandara Park alongside Chantalle Ng and Tay Ying, as they try out some of the latest beauty trends and gadgets, all while visiting some of the trendiest neighbourhoods and attractions around our little red dot.
When asked about her beauty secrets, Sandara Park shared that there was “no secret”. She added, to the amusement of her fans and journalists in the room, that she’s “also human”, and what she does is to put on a mask pack every night. “I try to do it everyday, even if I’m tired or lazy, because it only takes up to 15 minutes.”
Here are some other questions posed to the impeccable beauty icon at a press conference last week.
1. With a busy schedule, how do you stay healthy?
Well, first you should watch the show, because we discuss all about it, but I’ll tell you just a little bit. Inner beauty is really important. You need to work out regularly. I told them (Chantalle and Ying) how to work out even when you don’t have time to go to the gym. I showed them some routines you can do everywhere, at home, at the dressing room, in the toilet, so if you watch the show, you’ll know the details! And of course, you’ll have to eat some healthy food!
2. If you can only choose three skincare and makeup items for a photoshoot, what would choose?
Only three items? I think I would use facemask before I do the makeup, to keep fresh, and then BB cushion, for my skin. And lipstick. Because with one lipstick, we can use it as lipstick, cheek, and eyeshadow.
3. For a hot tropical climate like Singapore, what are you must-dos or must-haves?
Singapore is really hot and humid all year. So it’s really important to choose the right product to make you look good. Sometimes your makeup will be cakey so it’s really nice to get the right product. Do eat properly and in the right order. We talk about it on the show too, so it would be nice if you watch the show!
4. What beauty trends are you obsessing over at the moment?
I love buying new products, and in Korea right now, there are so many great items that we can’t see overseas. I love buying them! There are so many interesting things! I love this cute face masks, like kungfu panda style. So when you’re doing the face masks, you usually get bored right? But when you look at yourself in the mirror, it’s really funny!
5. What are your upcoming plans for the rest of the year?
For the rest of the year? Actually, it’s kind of unpredictable in this line of work, so I don’t want to guarantee anything. But I always try to prepare everything so I’ll always be ready when the opportunities come. Right now, I’m focusing on my work on beauty, and I have some shows when I go back to Korea, and I have pictorials. I’m quite busy, so I don’t have time to go to the studio to work on my music. I’m so sad, but whenever I have free days, I try to go and try to make to make new music. It could be singing, it could be acting, I’m also excited to see what kind of work will I get involved in for the rest of the year.
