These lively races will make running more enjoyable for everyone

As someone who hates running and any form of cardiovascular exercise, it’s hard for me to understand why anyone would want to spend money torturing themselves by running.
However, these 8 runs happening in the first half of 2016 look like they could be fun enough to convert a sloth like me.
1. Coney Island Trail Run – Apr 16
Run at your own pace while taking in the natural beauty and biodiversity of Coney Island. There will even be a free Spa Massage waiting for you at the finishing line!
The Coney Island Trail Run starts and ends at Gallop Stable, at The Punggol Ranch, and also has a 10 minute Pony Trail Ride ($10), making it the perfect family-friendly run.

2. The Music Run – Apr 23
Set to be the world’s loudest 5km running course, The Music Run is lined with over 120 speakers that will blast out music voted for by runners. Each kilometer will play different tracks from rock, pop, old school, hip-hop, and dance.
The after-run music festival includes performances by world class DJs and local band, The Sam Willows.

3. Snoopy Run – Apr 24
Grab your children (or borrow one!) and spend a sunny Sunday with Snoopy and the Peanuts. Open to children above the age of 5, participants will get a Snoopy Run Pack that includes an exclusive runner’s tee and Charlie Brown’s iconic bag.

4. Spartan Race – May 7
If you’re looking for an adventurous race that is sure to get your heart rate racing, look no further than the Spartan Race. Aside from the running portion of the race, there are also over 20 obstacles that participants need to complete.
Climb over a wall and crawl through mud, these challenging obstacles will test both your physical strength and mental tenacity as you race towards the finish line in triumphant victory.

5. Diamond Dash – May 7 and 8
Grab your sweetheart and race for a chance to win a 1.5 carat diamond. This vertical challenge will have you and your partner racing hand in hand, conquering the 17 floors of boutique hotel, klapsons. 6. Bubble Glow 5km Run – May 21
The first run of its kind in Asia, Bubble Glow 5k will be held at Gardens by the Bay. Participants can walk or run their way through the course while experiencing glowing UV bubbles all around them.
The night begins after the run with performances by vocal band MICapella and drummer DJ Chow. There will also be food and fringe activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the night.

7. Osim Sundown Marathon – May 28
Back for its 9th year, the Sundown Marathon is Asia’s largest night marathon. This year, participants can look forward to an even larger array of happenings at the Race Village. This includes the Sundown Sports Zone, which will feature adrenaline-pumping sports like dodgeball, basketball, and rock climbing for the first time in the race’s history.

8. Mizuno Ekiden – Jul 16
Form a team of four and join the Mizuno Ekiden long-distance relay race. Take turns to complete the 42.195km run which will be held at The Promontory @ Marina Bay.
This year’s race promises to be a holistic Japanese experience. Don’t miss out on the Matsuri Race Village which offers traditional games, cuisines and activities for runners to participate in after the race.
