Korean idols, step aside – here’s Singapore’s own teen dreamboat. Chen debuted as a singer before moving into acting, a career that made him a teen icon through shows like “Morning Express” and “Cupid Love”. Though it was a tough transition for him, especially in order to prove his mettle, he emerged as a crowd favourite and went on to bag multiple Best Actor titles at theStar Awards in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2010.

Chen’s “Cupid Love” will be aired at the Objectifs Gallery on 10 Feb at 7.30pm, as part of Watch Local 2017.

Where he is now

Chen is still acting, with his latest series being “118 II”, a sequel to the first part set in a coffee shop in Tiong Bahru. The show also stars Chew and other veteran actors.
