This year is turning out to be a huge year for many fan bases, as several films were actually set in 2017.
So what kooky inventions or developments were we supposed to get in the next 12 months, if the movie industry could have its way? Here are five things that happened in 2017, according to hit films.

4. America has a one-child policy
According to 1992 movie Fortress, 2017 will see a dystopian America, where strict one-child policies have been enforced, forbidding a second pregnancy even if the first baby had not been carried to full term.
The namesake of the movie is the Fortress, a private maximum-security prison run by a giant corporation. Here, to maintain discipline, all inmates are implanted with “Intestinators”, which induce severe pain or death as a form of physical control and mental conditioning.
We’re definitely glad this one was just speculative fiction.
