The festive season calls for some feel-good flicks - but these ones aren't your usual yuletide tales

We all know and love the usual Christmas must-watch shows; titles like Home Alone, It's a Wonderful Life and Love Actually come to mind. But if you're hoping to avoid the usual suspects this year, you're in luck. There's a flood of interesting Christmas-related shows coming up that aren't dripping and soggy with too much sappiness.

Here are five that are worth catching. Parental discretion is advised; and by that, we mean you may or may not want to catch some of these with the folks in the room.

3. Sing [PG]

Dapper koala Buster Moon presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: A mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.
