9. Celebrate Singapore literature through film
As part of Singapore Writer Festival’s annual adaptation platform Utter, several classics and long-lost gem of Singapore literature will be taking centre-stage. Celebrating some of the best of Singapore literary output written before 1986 and their potential to be adapted into different media and across languages, Utter 2017: SingLit Unearthed will shine the spotlight on our literary pioneers and introduce them to this generation of literary writers and lovers.
Short fiction and poetry works of four highly-distinguished writers, including former prime minister S. Rajaratnam, have been selected to be adapted into live-action or animation shorts. The completed Utter reproductions will be screened in a showcase for the first time from 29 September to 1 October. Each screening will be followed by an extended post-screening dialogue with the filmmakers present. Tickets available here.
