6. Gardens by the Bay’s Dahlia Dreams

In the Year of the Dragon, Gardens by the Bay presents Dahlia Dreams, its annual Chinese New Year floral display. The centerpiece is a magnificent dragon, nearly 7 meters tall and extending over 15 meters, gracefully rising amidst over a thousand dahlias of various shapes, sizes, and hues. Some of the dragon’s scales are adorned with meticulously arranged cut and preserved flowers in vibrant yellow and red colors.

Four vibrant dragon lantern sets enhance the spectacle, each representing the elements of metal, water, fire, and earth. To bring positivity to all visitors, the floral display incorporates a scene interpreting the Chinese saying “鱼跃龙门,” symbolizing courage and the pursuit of greatness. Adding to the dragon theme is a towering dragon sculpture crafted from hardwood and recycled steel by British-born sculptor James Doran-Webb. This exceptional artwork is the latest addition to his zodiac character series in Flower Dome.
