8. Commemorate 100 years of a great contemporary Chinese painter through his art

Take a look back at the legacy of a man whom many call the founder of modern Chinese painting. Wu Guangzhong would have been celebrating his 100th birthday next year, so the National Gallery Singapore decided to hold a special exhibition to commemorate the centennial occasion. Starting from 31 August, the exhibition, entitled “Wu Guanzhong: Expressions of Pen & Palette,” will run for more than a year, into September 2019. Known for his innovative fusion of Chinese ink and Western modernism in his paintings, Wu also wrote heavily on art and creativity. For the first time in history, the exhibition will feature his literary prose alongside his visual artworks, which include rare pieces that have not been displayed in over 10 years. Get to know the legendary artist in a new light, only at the Wu Guanzhong Gallery of the National Gallery Singapore.
