1. Catch a highly-acclaimed local musical
Running till 27 August, Singapore’s most successful original musical, Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress, is taking place at the Esplanade Theatre. The theatrical phenomenon revolves around two of the greatest icons of China’s ancient history – the cloaked world of the Forbidden City and the legendary Empress Dowager Cixi. Starring Singapore’s songbird Kit Chan as the Empress Dowager Cixi and featuring music by Cultural Medallion winner, Dick Lee, this is one cultural event that will definitely leave you at the edge of your seat.
