8. National Gallery Singapore’s Tropical exhibition
Explore the intersecting narratives between Southeast Asia and Latin America in National Gallery Singapore’s latest major exhibition, Tropical: Stories from Southeast Asia and Latin America. Running from November 18, 2023, to March 24, 2024, Tropical stands as the world’s most extensive comparative showcase of artistic expressions from both regions, boasting a collection of over 200 artworks, sculptures, drawings, performances, and immersive installations by more than 70 artists, spanning the expanse of the 20th century.
Through Tropical, the Gallery invites visitors to traverse space and time, delving into shared stories and experiences of artists from the 1920s onward. Expect floating artworks displayed on “crystal easels,” interact with textile artworks you can wear and activate with your body, and encounter a painting by the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
