9. Fashion meets sustainability at One Raffles Place this June

With the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) around the corner, One Raffles Place will be organising a variety of fun filled activities centered around the theme of Sustainability. From 20 June to 23 July this year, shoppers in the Central Business District (CBD) can do their part for the environment by purchasing sustainably-made clothes, creating their own tote bags and even taking part in a fashion swap drive.

Sustainable clothing line, QLOTHÈ, will be having a pop-up store at One Raffles Place shopping mall in June featuring clothing pieces from TERRA, the brand’s very first sustainable collection. Named after the Latin word for Earth, each fashion piece by TERRA is crafted by sustainably produced fibres. Priced affordably between $49 and $79, shoppers can make an eco-fashion statement this summer without breaking the bank. QLOTHÈ will also be having a special showcase at One Raffles Place displaying eco-friendly materials used in TERRA’s clothing line such as TENCEL™ Lyocell, organic linen and recycled cotton.

The negative impact of fast fashion has made consumers more aware of what they shop for, with shoppers opting for thrift shopping and clothes-swapping as an alternative. One Raffles Place will be partnering with The Fashion Pulpit to bring shoppers a whole new experience, where they can swap clothes with other shoppers instead of discarding them. By spending just $25, shoppers can drop off their old garments and have a blast swapping them with other fashionistas.

Some eco-friendly themed activities shoppers can look forward to include workshops by QLOTHÈ, where they can get creative by upcycling unused fabrics to make their own customised tote bags.

A great way to unwind and catch a breather after a long day at work, is to have a go at a terrarium-building workshop. Terrariums are not only therapeutic to create but are also useful in improving indoor air quality. To get the heart pumping, shoppers can opt for a fun outdoor activity with a weekly trampoline workout available every Monday.

Do your part for charity this GSS and donate a few goodies in your well stocked up pantry to the less fortunate. Instead of throwing out items that are expiring, donate your excess canned or dried food via the Food Bank donation box at One Raffles Place Information Counter, Level 4 from 20 June – 19 December.
