Textures 2019: 7 Highlights You Should Attend At The Local Literary Festival

Celebrate Sing Lit with some of our best in the scene

Did you know that March is designated as National Reading Month in the United States? Though it's not a thing in Singapore, the folks behind Textures may be planning to make it so. The literary festival launched to much success in March 2018, and is making its return this year from 7 to 10 March at The Arts House. Co-commissioned by The Arts House and the #BuySinglit movement, and supported by the National Arts Council, Textures is all about celebrating Singapore literature. This year, the festival explores a range of emotions that words express through the theme of "Love and Loss (and some things in between)."

The programme is packed with so many exciting performances, exhibitions, panel discussions and creative workshops, some taking place at the same time - how do we choose which ones to attend? To help you decide, we've picked out seven events we're most excited for. Call up your friends for a lit-terrific weekend, and don't forget to support our authors and discover new reads at the #BuySingLit Book Bazaar, happening at the Arts House Gallery from 8 to 10 March.

3. any anything also can

Stroll along the streets of Singapore for a while, and you’ll hear waves of many different languages, dialects and accents lapping up against each other. That unique experience also comes across in our poetry. Discover the endless creative possibilities of our multilingual culture through any anything also can, an eight-poem exhibition by Sing Lit Station on the second floor of the Arts House.

The exhibition will be held from 1 to 17 March, 10am to 10pm. Admission is free.
