It's the 40th anniversary since the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, and to celebrate this occasion, Star Wars fans are in for a mega treat: a three-day Star Wars festival is coming to town.

Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You will take place from 4-6 May, 3pm-11pm, at the Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay. The festival will have a distinctive flair that fans will appreciate, complete with themed activities, character appearances and immersive experiences.

We've learned from Artbox, so this time, we're getting our lightsabers ready for attack. Here are five highlights to make a beeline for at the festival:

5.  Star Wars Run Singapore 2017

The festival will culminate in a Star Wars Run, with two distances – 4.5km or 10km – to choose from. Participants who choose the 4.5km route can choose to join the Rebellion on the Light side, or walk in Darth Vader’s footsteps on the Dark side; each side passes a different thematic route.

After the run, participants can relax in the race village with themed activities, interactions, food and beverages as well as an outdoor movie screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Tip: Keep an eye out for Chewbacca and Kylo Ren, who will both be flagging off the run.
