One of Singapore’s biggest literary events, the Singapore Writers Festival (SWF), will be held from 4-13 Nov this year with the theme “Sayang” (a Malay term used to express love, or a sense of pity and regret when loss is experienced).

The festival will welcome a host of celebrated authors this year, including Joanne Harris, award-winning British author of “Chocolat”; Man Booker International Prize-nominee Eka Kurniawan, one of Southeast Asia’s most celebrated novelists; and O Thiam Chin, winner of Singapore’s inaugural Epigram Fiction Prize award.

Those who purchase the Festival Pass will be able to access the new SWF Classroom Series, a special enrichment programme with panel discussions featuring notable personalities such as former CNN foreign correspondent in the Middle East and novelist Atia Abawi (US) and YouTube content creator The Nerdwriter, Evan Puschak (US).

The Series will cover issues as wide-ranging as pop culture, football in the Middle East, the link between fishing and poetry, the global spectre of terrorism and the US Presidential Elections.

Festival Pass holders can enjoy 20 per cent off all other SWF events that are ticketed separately. Ticketing details and updates are available at www.singaporewritersfestival.com.

SWF 2016 will run from 4-13 Nov at the Civic District.
