With tons of indie shops and its unique architecture, it’s no wonder Tiong Bahru is always on the top of Singapore’s travel guides.
Recently, this old neighbourhood has turned into a hipster hotspot that locals and expatriates both love. But sites of our local heritage have survived the gentrification and continue to bring joy to the nostalgic. 9. The graves of Tan Tock Seng and family
Your trip through Singapore’s history in Tiong Bahru is not complete without visiting the grave of Tan Tock Seng. Also buried near our famous pioneer and philanthropist are his daughter-in-law, Chua Seah Neo, and his granddaughter-in-law, Wuing Neo. The stone lions that guard the resting places add an auspicious elegance to honour the namesake of Tan Tock Seng Hospital and his family.
