We bring you the best places to celebrate Mid-autumn Festival in Singapore!
9. Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2023
Explore the narrative and customs surrounding the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the world’s oldest cultural celebrations. Immerse yourself in the festival’s deep historical and cultural significance through various live performances, cultural workshops, heritage walking tours, storytelling sessions, and more during the weekend open house. This year’s festival, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH), has partnered with various clan associations to offer a diverse range of programs that allow visitors of all ages to delve into the dialect cultures of the Chinese community.
Highlighted activities during the Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival Open House include the Teochew Cultural Trail hosted by the Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan, a Hokkien Song & Rhymes Workshop presented by Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan, and a Parent-Child Hakka Abacus Seeds Making Workshop organized by Nanyang Hakka Federation.
This year’s unique lanterns installation, “A Mid-Autumn Paw-trait,” showcases two endearing giant panda lanterns. Catch these pandas in their characteristic poses – one in a relaxed seated position and the other in a stretching stance – gracing SYSNMH’s lawn from August 29th to October 1st.
