Fjällräven Singapore Launches First-Ever Kånken Week

For many, the Kånken isn’t just a backpack—it’s a piece of personal history.

From school days to travel adventures, the iconic square-shaped bag has become a global symbol of simplicity, durability, and understated style. Now, Singapore is celebrating this classic with the first-ever Kånken Week, running from 13 to 28 September 2025 along Bali Lane and Haji Lane.

Themed “Own Your Color”, Kånken Week is more than a retail campaign—it’s an invitation to embrace individuality. Each scuff, stitch, or doodle on a Kånken tells a story, and this event is designed to honor the memories tucked into those zippers and pockets. Whether you’ve had yours since school or just discovered the brand, Kånken Week reminds you that the backpack is less of a trend and more of a lifelong companion.

The event transforms Bali Lane into a colorful hub of creativity and community, with exclusive launches and collaborations across four partner venues.

A highlight is the King Kånken Showcase, a supersized bag built from over 20 recycled Kånkens. Beyond being a visual spectacle, it symbolizes togetherness and second chances, blending art, fashion, and sustainability.

Nirvana Dessert Café

An unexpected twist: desserts inspired by the Kånken Koncept. This exclusive menu transforms the backpack’s playful spirit into sweet creations—a must-try for foodies.

Photomanner

Visitors can capture their experience with a Kånken-themed photo strip, the perfect keepsake from a day of exploration and nostalgia.

In a world saturated with fast fashion, the Kånken has endured for nearly five decades because of its blend of function and form. Initially designed in 1978 to prevent back problems in Swedish schoolchildren, the bag has become a global style staple without losing its utilitarian roots. Kånken Week’s focus on repurposing materials and encouraging personalization underscores Fjällräven’s ethos: longevity, sustainability, and individuality.
