It’s All About Dogs At The Singapore Philatelic Museum’s All About Dogs Exhibition

You're in for a paw-some time

Sourced from around the world, a brilliant array of 300 stamps and philatelic materials depicting man's best friend are on display at the Singapore Philatelic Museum (SPM), from 14 February to 1 December 2018.

Titled All About Dogs, the children's exhibition coincides fittingly with the Lunar New Year of the Dog, where the little ones, or just about any dog lover, can come and learn about these blameless creatures and the bond they have with man.

Aside from gazing at the extensive spread of canine stamps, the exhibition is bolstered by several multisensory interactive installations that impart little nuggets of doggy knowledge to visitors.

For starters, the exhibition boats a section that enlightens visitors about a dog’s autonomy and senses, featuring pressable buzzers that emit varying ultra-sonic sounds heard only by dogs and humans with super-hearing. A hop, skip and a jump away will lead visitors to more interactive exhibitions such as a Doggy Parlour where kids slip into a dog groomer’s shoes, a Smell Station that has you decipher strange but familiar scents, and also an area filled with puzzles for kids to piece together dog stamp jigsaws and match wagging tails to the correct dog breed.

Alongside standalone dedications to iconic dogs such as Laika, the dog that went to space, and famed Japanese dog, Hachiko, a highlight worth savouring slowly is a wall filled with frames of dog stamps, specifically categorised by their class such as terriers, toy breed, hunting and working dogs. Magnifying glasses are on standby for you to take a closer look at man’s best friend.

The All About Dogs Exhibition is on display at the Singapore Philatelic Museum, from 14 February to 1 December 2018. Charges apply to tourists at Adult/$8 and Child/$6.  Free admission for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.
