Esplanade Will Soon Have A Mini National Day ‘Parade’

Celebrate Singapore’s 51st with outdoor bands, bazaars and interactive art installations by the bay

This year marks the National Day Parade’s return to the National Stadium after 10 years, and to celebrate this homecoming, the Esplanade will be raising its own three-day mini-parade.

Held from 7-9 Aug, the Spirit of the Parade festival will feature various band performances, interactive sculptures and the biggest outdoor bazaar ever held at the Esplanade. The entire event will span the entire outdoor bay area, from the Forecourt Garden to the Waterfront.

Here are some highlights of the festival that you can look forward to:

Sketching Workshop

When: 9 Aug, 10.30am–12.30pm
Where: Esplanade Theatre Meeting Point

Sketching is one way to tell the story of our surroundings. In this introductory workshop by Favian Ee from Urban Sketchers, you can learn the basics of how to draw on location and the fundamentals of pencil sketching.

This workshop is free and open to participants ages 12 years and above, and basic drawing materials will be provided. Registration is required and will open at 10am.

Then, put your newfound skills to the test at the National Day Sketchwalk at 2pm (meeting point: Concert Hall Information Counter on Level 1).
