6. library@esplanade – For music, film, theatre and dance lovers

Looking to borrow a movie? You can probably find it at the Esplanade library, where shelves and shelves of DVDs from over the world make up Singapore’s largest movie library collection. You can also find lots of books on films and theatre (including full scripts!), sheet music, music and dance recordings, and more performing arts resources. The performing arts world also comes alive in the library, with regular piano or orchestral performances to enjoy. If you want to make some music yourself, the Silent Studio is a great affordable place to jam with your band! It’s fully equipped with various musical instruments, headphones, microphones, audio mixer board and amplifiers, and here’s the thing – only you and your fellow musicians can hear the sound through your headphones. A sound-minimising mixer helps to keep the library quiet and conducive for other users.
