There are even special studios for cooking and music

Why do you go to a library? To read and borrow books, study, or just enjoy the cool air-con with your family and friends? Our Singapore public libraries are great for all that, and so much more. With dedicated spaces and classes for certain hobbies, and vibrant designs to engage the littlest readers, each library has something special. To celebrate the new opening of library@harbourfront, we've selected our favourite public libraries and highlight why you should visit them soon, if you haven't already.

3. Yishun Library – For new tech and quiet reading spaces

After a year-long renovation, Yishun Library reopened in February 2018 boasting a more expansive space at Northpoint City shopping mall, and lots of awesome new features. Our personal favourite feature is the big quiet and backlit reading lounge, with many reading nooks where we can get lost in our book. Another highlight is the dedicated digital learning zone. If you want to learn a new skill, such as coding or creative design, plop yourself on the couches of a learning pod and search through the over 5,000 video tutorials stored in the LyndaLibrary. You can also access a wide range of e-books, e-magazines and e-newspapers from the digital learning zone.
