7. Syonan Jinja

Next time you go jogging or strolling around MacRitchie Reservoir, see if you can spot the ruins of Syonan Jinja, a forgotten Japanese Shinto shrine that commemorated the Japanese soldiers who died in Singapore in WWII.

Located along Sime Road in the jungle surrounding MacRitchie Reservoir, Syonan Jinja was the location of many religious and cultural ceremonies, until it was destroyed when the Japanese Occupation ended.
